Institute for International and Strategic Studies hosts the tenth edition of the annual global conference on environmental taxes, which will take place in Lisbon (Portugal). This event will focus on “Water Management and Climate Change ‘, a cross cutting issue in the agenda of all levels of government and requires input from all stakeholders. Therefore, the organization would like to invite all interested in the topic to attend the event, which shall include a political track and several scientific track.
Within this thematic framework, the conference will focus among other things in the following areas: Water, Energy, Transportation, policies and instruments’ Coordination, International Environmental Justice, Competitiveness Issues, capacity problems and management issues (see call-for-papers). Broad topics will be launched with a plenary session for all conference participants, followed by a series of panel discussions to explore specific issues in depth.
In parallel with these meetings will be invited specific workshops, some with an innovative content in conferences addressing environmental market-based instruments. An example of the latter panel of Law and Economics of Environmental Policy, a growing field of legal research, where the formal and procedural aspects of environmental policy is subject to a cost-benefit analysis that informs policy makers and the general public regarding the actual consequences of environmental legislation.
